Largely a forgotten moment as years have passed, this straightaway center bomb from Eric Davis set the tone for the 1990 World Series. The Reds were severe underdogs to the powerhouse Athletics, but when Davis crushed this ball off Dave Stewart to give the Redlegs a 2-0 lead, everything seemed to change. Cincy never looked back and swept Oakland in 4 games.
I always loved the way Davis swung the stick. It was quick and violent. With his celebrated hitch, he could look bad - especially with fastballs around the letters. However, with his quick hands, when he was on it, he hit rods.
